Remembrance Day.

He has trouble concentrating and sleeps restlessly.

He jerks awake at the least sound and grabs at someone trying to shake him awake.

He wakes from dreams of rocket fire, the rattle of machine guns, pulling body parts from trees.

He remembers being abused by friends, and being asked how many babies he'd killed.

He's politically active and fights for rights slowly being eroded.

He shed blood and tears, made sacrifices, and did his job.

He is a soldier. He is my father. He is a Vietnam vet.
